Benefits of Double Glazed uPVC Windows

If you’re looking for a double glazing quote, you should be aware of the benefits of double glazing. Windows with double glazing are specifically intended to prevent heat loss from homes and buildings. Double-glazed units provide twice the insulation of single-glazed units.

What Is Double Glazing?

Double glazing is the use of two panes of glass (separated by an air layer) in a home’s window. This adds an additional layer of insulation to your home, reducing heat loss via your windows. Previously, windows were installed with a single pane of glass, which has proven to be an extremely efficient heat conductor.

According to ongoing research, adding a second pane of glass with a sealed pocket of air (or gas) in the middle dramatically reduces heat loss through windows. Because the requirement for double-glazed windows in new homes did not become mandatory until 2007, many New Zealand homes still have inefficient single-pane windows.

What Is uPVC?

Unplasticized polyvinyl chloride (uPVC) is a robust, low-maintenance but lightweight plastic building material. Because of its various advantages, including resilience to chemicals, sunshine, and oxidation from water, it has grown in popularity in the home improvement business as an alternative to painted lumber.

Because it is low-cost and low-maintenance, it is especially suitable for double-glazed windows and doors. Roofline products such as downpipes, guttering, and fascia can also be made of uPVC.

Benefits

The type of glazing utilised in double glazing systems can have a significant impact. Low-E is the most energy-efficient (Low Emissivity). This has a near-invisible Metal Oxide coating that reflects heat back from the glass. This is standard on Eco Doors and Windows uPVC windows! Double Glazing with uPVC framing makes sense if you want to keep your home warm, healthy, and modern. If you need to renovate your property, Eco Doors and Windows should be a top priority.
